1. Acceptance of these terms

By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. Do not use the service if you do not agree.

2. Independent educational purpose

Free HTL Guide provides independent histotechnology education and certification-preparation material. It is not produced, endorsed, approved, or scored by ASCP or the ASCP Board of Certification.

Content is for education and study. It is not a substitute for current laboratory procedures, manufacturer instructions, institutional policies, safety data sheets, accreditation requirements, professional judgment, or applicable law.

No score, study target, progress indicator, recommendation, or certificate on this website guarantees eligibility, examination performance, certification, employment, or professional competence.

3. Learner accounts

• Provide accurate account information and maintain control of your sign-in credentials.
• Do not share an account or use another learner's account without authorization.
• You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report suspected unauthorized use.
• Account identity and learning progress are separate from premium entitlement. Creating or verifying an account does not automatically grant paid access.
• You may use the available account settings to export or reset eligible progress and to request account deletion.

4. Permitted use of content

You may use the website and authorized downloads for your own personal educational study. Unless written permission is provided, you may not:

• republish, sell, sublicense, or distribute lessons, question banks, explanations, answer keys, downloads, or substantial portions of the service;
• share protected premium content or access credentials with others;
• circumvent authentication, entitlement checks, rate limits, or other security controls;
• scrape, extract, or reproduce protected content at scale;
• misrepresent the content as official certification examination material;
• use the service to violate law, third-party rights, or examination-security rules.

Brief quotation for legitimate commentary or citation may be permitted by applicable law, but these terms do not grant ownership of the underlying material.

5. Premium services and payments

Payment checkout is not active during the current Layer 14 development phase. When paid plans are introduced, the applicable price, billing period, renewal terms, cancellation method, refund policy, and material restrictions will be shown before purchase.

Premium access will be controlled by server-verified entitlement. Browser messages, return URLs, profile fields, or local storage do not establish paid access.

Additional billing terms may be introduced before paid launch. Material changes will be presented through the website or another appropriate notice.

6. Availability, corrections, and account action

The service may change as educational content is reviewed, corrected, expanded, secured, or migrated. Features may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons.

Access may be limited or terminated for security abuse, unauthorized distribution, fraud, unlawful activity, or material violation of these terms. Where appropriate, reasonable steps will be taken to protect learner data and preserve valid account rights.

Educational errors may be corrected without preserving outdated wording. Review dates and editorial boundaries should be considered when using the material.

7. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as hosting, premium delivery, billing, support, or legal requirements develop. The effective date will be updated when changes are published. Continued use after a material update means you accept the revised terms to the extent permitted by law.
